Christmas In July Cuba 2024
It was Friday, December 1, 2023, I was asking the Lord where will be our Christmas in July outreach on July 2024? The Lord gave me the country, Cuba in my mind. That same night I went to our Friday Shabbat at the Nathaniel Foundation and guess what? The speaker was Rev. Rafael Cruz, and he is Cuban! Then few days later I received a mail from Proclaim Cuba, I ministry I supported in the past. The next day, my friend Fran and I were driving in downtown Dallas and was passing by a food truck, and the name in the truck was CUBA! So Cuba it is!
God called us to do our Christmas in July in the communist land of Cuba, just 80 miles from our Florida shores. It is our 18th international outreach where we were blessed by the LORD to reach out to a total of 45,000 children in 18 countries. We partnered with Proclaim Cuba in Dallas.
A team of 6 was assembled by the Lord. My very good friends, Richard and Emineh Pacania from CA, Don and Michelle Welch from Dallas and myself plus Joel Dasalla (staff) from Florida wanted to be a part of the team.
We flew to Cuba on July 16 and planning to stay till July 22, 2024. As soon as we arrived at the airport we were apprehended by the customs because 8 of our luggages were full of 1,000 T shirts, 1,000
backpacks and some school supplies.
The plan was to do 2 events and serve 1,000 children. But God’s ways are higher than our ways. Instead of 2 events, we ended doing 6 events. Instead of serving 1,000 children we served 1,283 and God
multiplied our goods. We provided Bibles, backpacks, books, T shirts, school supplies, salvation bracelets, rice, beans, socks and footwear with footwashing.
We met 20 children living on the mountain ages 4-14 year old that could memorized Psalm 23 and Psalm 121. Wow, we were blown away. Cuban salary was $20.00/month and our church partner in Cuba
sacrificed their rationed food for one month so our team from Dallas will be able to have pork and chicken. 48 women stood up and sang with us, the hymn in Spanish “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” with tears in their eyes. Most of us were crying.
The best part is 769 children raised their hands accepting Jesus as their LORD and Saviour.
Cuba touched us and helped us see God’s hands are on this communist land as well. These believers have strong faith and it blessed our hearts. We are forever changed.
