Catching Up With Susie Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic
QUESTION: How are you and the Operation Care International (OCI) team?
SUSIE JENNINGS: We are now laser focused and goal-oriented, grateful to God as He has kept us healthy and as He has expanded our ministry to the homeless and impoverished. Just in the last few months of this challenging season, we have experienced exponential growth. We are now doing a monthly outreach to help our North Texas homeless shelters and ministries. God has built our foundation, and we continue to depend on Him as our Master Builder. It has also been a season of being fully reliant on God (FROG). The bottom line is our team became disciplined and more productive!
QUESTION: What has God taught you during this COVID-19 pandemic?
SUSIE JENNINGS: God has taught me to stay close to Him. It’s been a blessing to spend so much time with the Father during my prayer walk. OCI has a weekly 2-hour prayer summit each Saturday afternoon. Every morning our staff studies the Word together during our daily meeting. Also, I have the privilege of being a part of Nathaniel Fellowship (please visit www.nathanielfellowship.com for more information) under Paul and Dr. Victoria Sarvardi’s Bible teachings on Friday nights. I have learned and grown in the knowledge of the Word and the love of God. This has been a season of deep intimacy with God for me and our team.
QUESTION: Tell us about the OCI Joseph Storehouse where you have a monthly outreach to our homeless shelters/ministries?
SUSIE JENNINGS: When the COVID-19 pandemic started, I saw a major gap with our North Texas homeless shelters, and we prayed about filling the need. The hospitals had Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), but our shelters were desperate for them. In March 2020 we had hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes, gloves, and bottled water, etc stored up in our warehouse. We shared them with two shelters and a new phase of ministry was birthed — The Joseph Storehouse. This is just one of the 5 initiatives of OCI. The Word tells us not to despise the day of small beginnings. Although we had no budget nor money for this project, God has continued to supply the needs for this vision. Our first outreach to two shelters has now grown to fourteen shelters/ministries in five months. We provide PPE’s like masks, gloves, face shields, infrared thermometers, hand sanitizers, and disinfecting wipes. We also give away other supplies like Bibles, bottled water, fresh produce, snacks, energy bars, and personal care items. It costs us $40,000.00 per month and by faith, we continue to see God’s miracles unfold before our eyes in meeting the needs of our homeless and impoverished friends. We are happy to report (as of the time of this mailing), that our partner shelters have not reported any infections. Friday, July 24, 2020 will be our fifth outreach, and we are grateful to God for He has grown this ministry 7x.
Exciting addition to this month’s outreach is extending the love of Christ to our Refugee Community. We are blessed to join forces with Northwest Community Center and Fellowship Bible Church in this wonderful project. We need your prayers for souls to be saved and transformed one life at a time in Jesus name.
This has truly been a God-anointed vision, and it is saving lives. Would you pray about giving to help us with this growing need? A gift of $100.00 will help 10 homeless. A gift of $1,000.00 will help 100 homeless friends. Remember, the homeless are twice as likely to get and spread the virus. Our homeless friends need YOU now!
Your tax deductible love gift is not only appreciated but critical in saving lives of our homeless and impoverished friends.
QUESTION: How has the pandemic impacted ONEDAY2020? What’s the latest plan?
SUSIE JENNINGS: Due to social distancing, we may have to do things in a different way but we are moving forward waiting for God’s direction and trusting Him to lead the way. ONEDAY2020 Director Mike Tirone always says, “We don’t know exactly what it will look like but we will walk this out by faith.” December 19, 2020 will be the grand opening celebration to an annual global party for Jesus! I’m so excited to see how God shows up and uses this day for His glory!
QUESTION: What is your prayer for the country during these protests for social injustice?
SUSIE JENNINGS: My prayer is for UNITY. It’s the same prayer we have for ONEDAY2020. Ephesians 4:4 says we are one body and we serve one Lord. We are all one nation under God, and as the body of Christ we need to show kindness to everyone. Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see. We support the movement because we know there needs to be change. It was 100% wrong what happened to George Floyd. We are praying for social justice for all. We also stand by police officers and we wanted to show them kindness, so our team brought them some love and pizza. We need to act on our faith and be the light of the world. It’s true that together as a community we are stronger!
